Most people wouldn’t consider the humble Ford Escort, a car designed for cheap city transport, a super car – but when you cram in a turbocharged 2-litre powerplant and 4WD system putting out over 220 horsepower into a short wheelbase economy car – plus brave and fearless drivers and their trusting co-drivers…well, you get rally-winning greatness! Add the monstrous ‘whale tail’ wing and you’ve got the makings of a motorsport icon!
The WR8 Ford Escort RS Cosworth comes equipped with a brand-new LED lighting kit.
The era-appropriate warm-white headlights, tail lights, and brake lights are all controlled through the new TF-51 transmitter and RF-51 receiver, which now feature an integrated light controller. This system is channelled through the HPI 4-way LED Adapter for seamless operation and is included as standard.

With a realistic tread design modelled on the actual tires used in the WRC and at tarmac rally events around the world, these tires are designed to get the maximum amount of tread to the ground while allowing dust and dirt to be ejected from the shallow grooves spaced artfully around the tire. The low sidewall gives excellent corner abilities in all conditions.

True to the heritage and design of the Escort RS Cosworth, the WR8 chassis underneath that iconic shape features a high-performance and fully adjustable 4WD drivetrain and independent double wishbone suspension front and rear. Even the differentials front, rear and center can be adjusted to suit the terrain!
The WR8 means business out on the rally circuit! It all starts with that 3mm thick aluminum chassis with front and rear chassis braces, for a super-solid foundation. Of course it’s fully countersunk underneath to help it glide over jumps and terrain!
To get the power to the ground, the WR8 uses an all-wheel drive system featuring a center differential spinning driveshafts leading to the front and rear differentials. That’s right, THREE differentials, just like a modern RC racing buggy, all of which can be adjusted for your preferred driving style and terrain. Of course, everything in the drivetrain spins on sealed ball bearings to maximise efficiency and keep things running as smooth as that rear wing!
